PHP Selector — PHP Version per Domain

Developer • CloudLinux PHP

The CloudLinux component that lets you select the PHP version (5.6 through 8.5) independently for each domain or subdomain — without affecting other accounts on the server.

CloudLinux PHP Selector

PHP version control in your hands

PHP Selector is a CloudLinux component integrated into cPanel that allows changing the PHP version per domain or per account — completely independent of the server settings or those of other users. The change is instant and requires no server restart.

Select PHP 5.6 – 8.5

Choose exactly the PHP version needed for each domain — from legacy applications that require PHP 5.6 to modern projects using PHP 8.5.

Independent per domain

You can simultaneously run domain1.ro on PHP 8.5, domain2.ro on PHP 8.1 and domain3.ro on PHP 7.4 — on the same hosting account, each fully isolated.

Configurable PHP extensions

Enable or disable individual PHP extensions per domain — bcmath, gd, imagick, redis, memcached and dozens of others without root access or changing the global php.ini.

Customizable php.ini

Change php.ini values (memory_limit, upload_max_filesize, max_execution_time) directly from the cPanel PHP Selector for each domain, without affecting other accounts.

Complete control of the PHP environment

Everything you need to run modern and legacy PHP applications on the same hosting account.

PHP versions 5.6 – 8.5

All major versions available — from 5.6 for legacy applications to 8.5 with the latest performance and functionality improvements.

Per-domain isolation

Each domain runs with its own PHP version, fully isolated through CloudLinux CageFS. There is no interference between different domains on the same account.

Configurable extensions

Enable/disable PHP extensions (gd, imagick, redis, memcached, opcache, bcmath etc.) per domain, directly from cPanel, without root access.

Custom php.ini

memory_limit, upload_max_filesize, max_execution_time, post_max_size — all php.ini values are configurable per domain from the cPanel interface.

Instant change

Changing the PHP version applies immediately — without server restart or DNS propagation. Test the compatibility of the new version in seconds.

Compatible with all CMSs

Works with WordPress (min PHP 7.4), Laravel (min PHP 8.1), Magento (min PHP 8.1), CodeIgniter and any other PHP application.

Instant change

The PHP version changes immediately — without restart, without downtime

Yes, there is a risk of incompatibility if the application uses functions deprecated or removed in newer versions. We recommend testing first on a staging environment (available through WordPress Manager) before changing PHP on the production domain.

WordPress 6.x requires a minimum of PHP 7.4, but officially recommends PHP 8.1+. For optimal performance and compatibility with modern plugins, we recommend PHP 8.2 or 8.3. Check the requirements of the specific plugins on your site before upgrading.

Yes — OPcache is available as a PHP extension in PHP Selector and is recommended for all WordPress sites. With OPcache active, compiled PHP scripts are stored in memory — eliminating the parsing process on each request and significantly reducing response times.

From cPanel → PHP Selector → Current PHP Version. Alternatively, create a phpinfo.php file with the content <?php phpinfo(); ?>, access it in the browser and check the displayed version. Delete the file after checking for security.
